Conures are great for people who don't want the big birds
but still want to have a parrot. My very first parrot was a conure. A patangonian
in fact. It was an awsome pet. Reminded me of a small macaw. He
hated anybody that wore a hat. When you entered our house, make sure you
take off your hat. He screamed until you did!
Conures can be on the noisy side. Duskys, Jendays and Green Cheeks
are the quieter ones. Nadays and Suns can be quite noisy but it all depends
on the individual bird. I knew of a nanday that hardly made any noise at all!
Conures make up for being noisy by their clownish mischevious acts. Some
conures are quite talented and can do numerous tricks. Some even talk quite
well.
They can live to 20+ years. Like most birds, they like spacious
cages. Being the clowns they are, toys are a must.
