Patagonian Conures are one of the neatest conures. They are the largest
of the conures and some say they should even be in the macaw family
instead of the conure. My first parrot was a patagonian. Not only
was he noisy (like most conures), but he was pretty darn smart. He
was an
import but he was one of the first of my imported birds to tame down the
fastest. Back then we didn't even think of clipping the birds wings like
we do now. He even flew off across the street to a tennis court but we were
able to get him back with our outstreached hand.
With a length of almost 18 inches, they are huge than some
of the other conures. They have a bare eye patch, olive in color and an
orange patch
on their underside. Not the brightest colors of some of the other conures
but they make up for that with their unique personality.
A good huge cage is needed to accomondate their long tails. They
love fruits and veggies. They can live 30+ years.
